Chief Range Safety Officer

Aug 26, 2012 - Aug 26, 2012

Alexandria, VA

We will be offering an NRA Chief Range Safety Officer Course on the above date. This is an Instructor level course. Prerequisites for this course include being a current NRA Instructor (i.e. have already taken the NRA Basic Instructor Training Course), and be a current NRA Range Safety Officer.

NRA Chief Range Safety Officers (CRSO’s) are people who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations. The successful completion of this course will allow CRSO’s to teach the NRA Range Safety Officer Course.

Course length is 8 hours. You must attend the entire course. Attendance in this course does not guarantee recommendation as an NRA Chief Range Safety Officer. You must participate in the class exercises, pass the open book exam with a score of 90% or better, and demonstrate the appropriate knowledge, skills, and attitude expected of an NRA Instructor and CRSO.

(This course does not encompass the functions and responsibilities of a Range Officer who conducts NRA competitive shooting events as defined by Rule 11.5 of the NRA Rule Books.)

If you are currently an NRA Instructor, but not currently an RSO, you can attend one of our RSO courses, or take the NRA RSO Home Study Course meet the RSO prerequisite.

Course is located in the “Scout Hut” at Cameron United Methodist Church. Street address is 3130 Franconia Road, Alexandria, VA 22310. It is located on Franconia Road at the intersection of Franconia and Telegraph Roads. The Scout Hut is the small building in the field to the right of the main Church building – right off the Church parking lot. (Not to be confused with the doctor’s office building at the exact intersection of Franconia and Telegraph Roads.)

Course starts at 9am, ends at 6pm. Lunch time included. You can brown bag your lunch or order pizza with the staff. Bring about $10 for lunch if you will order pizza.

No live ammunition will be allowed in the classroom. This includes concealed handgun permit holders and local, state, or federal law enforcement officers – except in the proper execution of their duties.

Candidates hereby expressly acknowledge that they are legally capable of the acquisition, possession, transfer and use of firearms in the Commonwealth of Virginia, as regulated by federal, state and local laws and regulations. False notification or misrepresentation to legally possess firearms in the Commonwealth will result in student’s immediate removal from class and forfeiture of all course fees.

The Course Fee of $200 includes training materials, firearms, safety equipment, and facility rental. Registration requires a $50 non-refundable deposit. Your reservation is not guaranteed until we receive your deposit. You can pay either your deposit or the full course fee via PayPal or check.
