The Pistol Fundamentals Course teaches you the fundamentals of firearms safety, safe gun handling, pistol parts and operation, pistol shooting fundamentals, basic pistol cleaning and storage, and conduct live fire exercises at a local range. Class is conducted with several NRA Certified Instructors on-site and one-on-one instruction while on the rage. Upon successful completion of the course you will be issued a certificate that can be used as ‘proof of competency’ for obtaining your Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit.
Alumni Range Nights – The staff of Virginia Gun Safety sponsor range sessions for our alumni students who are looking for more supervised range time or instructor coaching following their Basic or First-Steps Pistol Course. The format is 2-3 students per instructor per lane. The instructor will rotate each of their students through a series of range exercises over the course of 60-90 minutes. Course fee includes instructor supervision, firearms, ammunition, and range fees. Range sessions will be conducted using .22LR handguns. Students wishing to shoot larger caliber handguns will need to provide their own ammunition. Students are encouraged to provide their own safety glasses and hearing protection, but can be rented at the range if required. This course is not suitable for students seeking supervision or coaching for advanced shooting techniques (including shooting from multiple non-standard shooting positions or drawing from a holster).
